The inside of a shell: Alice Munro's Dance of the Happy Shades
6-7 November 2014
Ecole Normale Supérieure de Lyon

This international conference will focus exclusively on Alice Munro's first collection of short stories, Dance of the Happy Shades, published in 1968, and will try and offer new perspectives, some forty-five years after its publication. Contributors will adopt a variety of approaches that will illuminate the main themes, narrative strategies, literary traditions, modes of writing, generic traits and any other component of the short stories.

All papers will be delivered in English. Papers will then be peer-reviewed for publication (publication due in the Spring of 2015).

Open to the public. No need for registration.
